Ruth Roman is the youngest child born to Lithuanian as well as Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) & Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. Her father, a carnival barker, passed away as a young child, forcing her mother to provide for her family through work as waitress or cleaning lady. Ruth was a student at the school located in the tenement district of Boston's most deprived. But she only stayed in school for two years before leaving to pursue her acting profession.
