Ruth Roman is the youngest child born to Lithuanian as well as Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) & Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. Her father, a carnival barker, passed away as a young child, forcing her mother to provide for her family through work as waitress or cleaning lady. Ruth was a student at the school located in the tenement district of Boston's most deprived. But she only stayed in school for two years before leaving to pursue her acting profession. Drama studies led her to earn her degree from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
